May dragon boating news: GB crews & National League events

We congratulate all our paddlers who qualified for GB crews; we didn’t quite get a clean sweep of our entry as I didn’t get in, but Clive, Colin, Ian, Mick, John and Martin all qualified for the Grand Dragons, with Liz once again as manager… although she did not have to qualify.

Not to be outdone, our Tao team mates from Bristol also qualified Ian for the Grand Dragons, Rob, Simone and Julia for the Open Crew and Rob and Simone’s twins Alan and Will for the Junior crew (U18 – but they are only 14).

On top of this, the Batchworth Grand Dragons duo of Nick and Paul have thrown their hand in with Tao again this year, as Batchworth are again unlikely to race. Mixed with our non-international paddlers, this has the makings of an excellent crew to kick on from where we left off last year.

For those who are members of the BDA, you will have received by email the revised notice of the AGM and the nominations for the Committee; if you are interested in the administration of your sport, we would urge you to use this opportunity to cast your vote for those positions where a vote is required. ONLY postal votes can be made and these have to be submitted and received by 31st May.

The remaining dates for National League events this year are:

1st June – Caldecotte, Milton Keynes, MK7 8HP

16th June – Stockton, Teesside, TS18 2NE

7th July – The Quay, Exeter, EX2 8DP

11th August – Royal Albert Dock, London, E16 2QT

25th August – Worcester Race Course, Worcester (WR1 3EH for car park)

21st-22nd September – NWSC Nottingham, NG12 2LU (National Cup Final)
