Wraysbury & Old Windsor regatta results

Another good day at the Club organised by Bob and Pam Silvey on Saturday 3rd August; we are grateful to everyone who helped with the regatta to make it the success it was.

The morning was taken up with the skiffing and punting, and the afternoon with the Rockin Robin Races and the children’s and family fun events. The Rockin Robin Races were won by Robin Barwick and Paul Barfoot coxed by Emily Ducas; this was quite pertinent as Robin Barwick was a member of Thames Tradesmen RC when Robin Roberts was captain there and they were old friends.

The Family Skiff Doubles was won by Peeley O’Neil with nephew Rowan O’Neill and it was good to see some of the Sunbury Skiff & Punting Club dads racing with their children.

The Family Canadian Canoes was won by Dave and Joe Taylor and it was good to see relatively new WSPC member Hugh Burns racing with his son Theo.

The Boys (Wing Cup) and Girls (Kingfisher Trophy) Single Dinghy Races were all handicapped by age and were won respectively by Paddy O’Neill, beating Zak Bahari of SSPC (10 boys competed) and Mimi McDougal, beating Yasmin of DSPC.

Zak and Archie from SSPC beat Rowan O’Neill & Harvey Viotta in the Double Dinghies (10 crews competed).

Our other winners were….

  • Gents Veteran Doubles H’cap Steve Myhill and Mike Lawson coxed by Libby Oke
  • Ladies Novice Singles – Hannah Dukas
  • Ladies Novice Restricted Singles – Siobhan Moody
  • Ladies Novice Singles – Emma Connell and Nicola Stanley (in her first ever race)
  • Mixed Novice Doubles – Marc Morrison and Siobhan Moody coxed by Paddy O’Neill (there was a dead heat and they won the re-row against Phil Costello and Emma Connell; an exciting end as the last race of the Regatta)
  • Mixed Veteran Doubles H’cap – Steve Myhill and Mary Sherry coxed by Will Oke

And last but not least a composite WSPC/DSPC crew in the J14 doubles… Mimi McDougal and Yasmin from DSPC beat Paddy O’Neill and Will Oke in the J14 Doubles… apparently, the boys finally came out of hiding a few days later.
